The verdict
Pick Fathom if you want free recordings and notes of every meeting; pick TalkPilot if you want help saying the right thing while the conversation is happening, built on your own context, with practice before and the recap still included.
Choose TalkPilot if
- You want help during the call, with no bot in the meeting: your next line or question shows up when the other person finishes talking, and Assist gives you a next move when you are stuck.
- You want coaching that knows you: your docs, notes and slides, a brief for each call, Memory from past calls, your calendar and your CRM contact.
- Your team has a playbook: reps see the current stage, what is still left to cover, and your approved answer to an objection before anything else.
- You want managers to score calls against the same playbook reps use live, and to learn from your best people with Team DNA.
- You want to practice first: an AI plays the other person by voice and scores you, or you rehearse tomorrow's meeting from your calendar.
- Your calls are in Spanish, or switch between English and Spanish: coaching follows the language of the call.
Choose Fathom if
- You mainly want notes: free, unlimited recordings and transcripts, with a summary after every meeting.
- You want a video recording to replay, with clips and playlists you can share with your team.
- You want a notetaker that joins the meetings on your calendar, and CRM fields filled in after each call (Fathom's Business plan).
- Your meetings happen in languages other than English and Spanish: Fathom transcribes 38 languages.

Fathom is an AI notetaker with a free plan. It records your Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls, writes the transcript and summary, and lets you search and share what was said. It writes down what happened.
TalkPilot is a conversation enhancer, built on proven conversation methods to make you the best communicator you can be. It gives you extra thinking power while you talk: when the other person stops, it shows what to say or ask next, using your own docs, notes and calendar. It helps you say the right thing while it is happening, and you still get the recap after.
We build TalkPilot, so read this as a vendor page. Everything we say about Fathom comes from Fathom's own site and help center, checked on October 11, 2026, and the links are at the bottom of this page.
Help while you talk, not only notes after
Fathom is built around the record of the meeting. It captures the call, with its notetaker or, on Mac, without a bot, and writes a summary when the call ends. Its newer Mac app also builds a live summary as you talk, so you can see what has been covered so far. We did not find suggestions of what to say on any Fathom page.
TalkPilot is built around the moment you have to answer. It listens from your own device and, when the other person finishes talking, shows your next line, a question to ask, or where to take the conversation. Tap Assist when you are stuck. Short cues like "Slow down" or "Their turn to speak" tell you how you are coming across. After the call you get a one-line takeaway, action items, follow-up drafts and, if you want it, a Deep Dive on what went well and what to try next.
Coaching that knows your context
Generic advice does not help much in a real conversation, so TalkPilot works from what you give it. Load your docs, notes and slides (PDF, TXT or MD files, with Pro), and the coach reads them before and during the call. Write a short brief for each call, like "Pricing call with Acme, I want a yes on the annual plan". Memory keeps lessons from your past calls and the notes you write. TalkPilot also reads your calendar details and, if you connect HubSpot or Salesforce, the contact's details before the call. You can even paste what ChatGPT or Claude already knows about you into your profile.
With TalkPilot Teams, it also knows your company: company knowledge, your playbooks, your approved answers and Team DNA from your best people. With Pro or Teams you can also use TalkPilot inside Claude or ChatGPT, to look back at your calls or get ready for the next one.
For teams: your playbook on the call, then a score against it
Fathom's Business plan has AI scorecards with criteria you write, coaching metrics like talk time, questions and monologues, a Deal View and CRM field sync. All of it works on recorded calls, after they end.
TalkPilot Teams puts the playbook on the rep's screen during the call: the current stage, what is still left to cover, and your approved answer when an objection comes up, before any other suggestion. If a rep starts to say something your rules forbid, TalkPilot warns them. After the call, the Command Center scores it against that same playbook, a review queue shows the calls that need a look, and managers can leave coaching comments and assign practice. Team DNA reads transcripts of your best people and shows how they run a call, so you can add what works to the playbook.
Practice before the real call
We did not find practice or roleplay on any Fathom page we opened. In TalkPilot, an AI plays the other person by voice, like a skeptical buyer or a hiring manager, and you answer out loud. Each run gets a score out of 100, with what worked and one thing to work on next. You can also rehearse an upcoming meeting from your calendar, or redo a past conversation. On Teams, managers can assign practice to reps.
Where TalkPilot is not the right fit
Good to know before you choose.
- TalkPilot saves the transcript, not audio or video, so there is no recording to rewatch or clip.
- It does not join meetings on its own: you start it in each conversation you are part of.
Frequently asked questions
Does Fathom coach you during a call?
Not with suggestions. Fathom's Mac app shows a live summary that updates as you talk, and you can take notes. Its scorecards and coaching metrics come after the call. We did not find suggestions of what to say on any Fathom page. TalkPilot shows your next line or question during the call, built on your own docs and notes, on every plan, Free included.
Can TalkPilot use my own documents and notes?
Yes. With Pro you can load your docs, notes and slides as PDF, TXT or MD files, and the coach reads them before and during the call. You can also write a short brief for each call, keep lessons and notes in Memory, connect your calendar, and connect HubSpot or Salesforce to see the contact before the call. And you can paste what ChatGPT or Claude already knows about you into your profile. Teams add company knowledge, playbooks, approved answers and Team DNA.
Does TalkPilot send a bot to my meeting?
No. TalkPilot listens from your own computer or phone, and nothing joins the meeting. We don't record or store audio; only the transcript is saved, in your account. Fathom's notetaker joins as a bot, and its Mac app can also capture without one. Recording rules vary by place, and you are responsible for consent.
Can TalkPilot replace Fathom?
They do different jobs. If you used Fathom for a summary and action items after your calls, TalkPilot gives you both, plus help during the call and practice before it. If your team wants video recordings, shared clips or an archive of every meeting, you can keep Fathom for that and use TalkPilot for the calls where what you say matters most.
Does TalkPilot work in Spanish?
Yes. The app, live coaching, recaps and action items work in English and Spanish, and coaching follows the language of the call, even if it switches. You can also pick one language in Settings. Fathom transcribes 38 languages, Spanish included, and can write summaries in Spanish.
How do the prices compare?
TalkPilot is free for 5 conversations a month, Pro is $20 a month, and Teams is $32 per seat a month billed annually ($40 monthly), from 3 seats, with no maximum. Fathom has a free plan with unlimited recordings, a paid plan for one person, and per-user Team and Business plans with a 2-user minimum; its scorecards are on Business. Check fathom.ai/pricing for current numbers.
Can I use both?
Yes. TalkPilot does not join the meeting, so it does not get in the way of Fathom's notetaker. You can keep Fathom for recordings and notes and use TalkPilot for the calls where what you say matters most.
